This Spotlight is on Maria Balasco. She is the owner and certified technician at Beauté MédiSpa, a clinic specializing in non-surgical treatment options for the face and body.
I met Maria a few years ago when I went to see her for a few sessions of the Endermologie technique to help reduce my baby belly and love handles. Or muffin top.. Whatever you call it ..it was annoying! I don’t have the pictures anymore, but I CAN honestly tell you that I lost almost 2” around my waist, plus had firmer and less bumpy skin. I will be going back to help reduce what baby #3 just did to my midsection because it was really effective, and it’s a lot more reasonable than going for a tummy tuck!
Maria recently moved the spa to her home basement, where she has created a quaint, comfortable and welcoming space. It also smells absolutely fantastic. (I’m really not kidding..every time I go, I take a deep sniff and just enjoy the aroma for a minute..weird? Maybe.. But I still do it, and so will you!)
Within her intimate spa setting, she offers a myriad of services that can help restore, relax and rejuvenate you from head to toe. She is a certified technician in medical aesthetics, providing non invasive treatments that focus on skin rejuvenation. She is also a certified massage therapist, and STOTT Pilates instructor. All of these, combined with the newly installed Sauna, means you can get some serious R&R done at her place, while working on defying the effects that time has had on your skin and body! I found that Maria also has a very calming spirit.. She’s so relaxed and easy going, you can’t help but unwind while she is around. Also, Once you spend some time with her, you will see how passionate she is about what she does. She truly does want to help people feel better in their skin.
The non-invasive products and machines she is certified to use, can treat common skin and body ailments we all struggle with, such as skin tightening, body & facial contouring, cellulite reduction (woot woot!), skin rejuvenation, acne clearance, skin resurfacing and stretch mark reduction( Hallelujah!).
Since I am already planning to get my baby belly worked on next using her Slimwave technique, I really wanted to try a facial to give you guys a better idea of what to expect.
To be completely honest, before this experience, I never gave a “real” facial a thought.. Sure I did home masks, and sometimes I scrub with apricot exfoliant, but the end results with this facial made me a true believer in the fact that as we get older ( ahem..I will be 40 next year!) we really do need to put some care into our skin, especially our face. I added both a before and after pic to my video so make sure you check it out! I’m not gonna lie, even I saw a difference in my skin tone. This will sound super cheesy but my skin looks and feels completely rejuvenated, (and clean) thanks to 3 techniques Maria used in sequence.
Here is what she did; She began with an exfoliation by diamond microdermabrasion (scrubbed and sucked up all the gunk on my face.. ewww), an Ergolift treatment for multi-dimensional stimulation ( it increases Hyaluronic acid, elastin and firmness.. and then a Hyperbaric Oxygen Facial. All the Hollywood stars do this, that’s why a 60 year old actress can look 30..just sayin)
I asked Maria to explain in further detail, what exactly the Hyperbaric Oxygen Facial serums do, and get ready for some 10$ words because she explained it really well!
“Hyperbaric Oxygen Facial serums provide a potent cocktail of collagen messenger peptides to promote skin renewal and rejuvenation. It helps restore volume and tightness to skin that hjas lost elasticity, tone and density. In fact, all of the Intraceutical serums (used during the facial) hydrate the skin and draw water into the skin layers. Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant which carries 1000 times its weight in water. That’s why, after the treatment, you see a change in your skin, as the skin will better retain water. All the serums also carry vitamins, antioxidants, collagen and hyaluronic acid.”
I was a bit skeptical on the value of getting this done, and now that I’ve witnessed my own results, I will be investing in this type of treatment much more often.. Who doesn’t want to keep their skin young and firm? That, coupled with what I know she can do to help tighten up my mid section, I am so glad that she is in my own back yard ( Not literally…).
